Limited number of mums per class to ensure each mum is given the time and individualized direction that they need.

Reconnect & Rebuild is a fitness course designed specifically for new mums to help them return to exercise postnatally in a safe and supportive environment.

After pregnancy and birth, new mums and their bodies need special care and attention, and this course is tailored to suit the needs of the mums attending. It will help those mums to Reconnect to themselves and to others, and to Rebuild their bodies.

  • Pelvic floor engagement,
  • Re-establishing your breathing pattern, i.e. using your Connection Breath to Reconnect your diaphragm, core and pelvic floor to work in sync together as you breath,
  • Practice this skill of the Connection Breath with each new movement.

Reconnect to other mums through:

  • Social interaction,
  • Bringing your baby along,
  • Mum chats at the end of each class.

Rebuild your body through:

  • Deep core strengthening,
  • Pelvic floor strengthening,
  • Regaining functional movement,
  • Full body strengthening,

Who is it for?

This course is suitable for new mums up to 1 year postpartum. You must be at least 6 weeks post vaginal birth and at least 12 weeks post caesarean birth, and you must have received medical clearance to return to exercise from your GP to partake in this course.

Babies are welcome

The classes are structured so that mums can bring their babies along while they exercise. This will be a relaxed environment and a safe space where mums can feed and tend to their little ones as and when they need to.

Our aim

The aim of this course is to get you exercising again with the goal of helping you transition back to normal classes. This transition period may take you 3 blocks or you might just need 1 block to feel ready to get back to your pre-pregnancy training and exercise classes. We also want to help you get back to feeling strong and confident in yourself both mentally and physically.

FAQs:

Some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) which may be useful for those attending classes.

When can I start?

Mums can attend Reconnect & Rebuild after their postnatal check-up with their GP (generally 6 weeks post vaginal birth/12 weeks post caesarean birth). Most mums feel more comfortable to wait until they are 3 to 4 months postpartum up until their baby is at the pre-crawling stage.

What should I wear and bring to class?

It’s best to wear runners and whatever gym gear you feel comfortable in. There will be a lot of movement and some sweating too, so bring a towel and a bottle of water.

What should my baby wear and bring to class?

Your baby can wear whatever you like, but a simple Babygro might be easiest for you to take on and off.

It is a good idea to bring your nappy bag, blanket, and a change of clothes for your baby too.

I have a big soft mat for babies to lie and play on. I also have 3 smaller mats with "gym" and hanging toys, and a baby bouncer. I have a box of toys, so hopefully with all of that and their own toys your baby will be happy out for the duration of the class. Feel free to bring a blanket for your baby to lie beside you, and move with you as we work through different exercises. Some babies love to be held as you exercise, which can be ideal for squats, overhead press, glute bridges etc.

What if my baby is unsettled during the class?

You can tend to your little one at any stage throughout the class. Whether they need feeding/changing or just a cuddle, that is no problem. It is important to remove any expectations that your baby will just sit or sleep quietly for the entire duration of the class. They might do, and if so, that is great, but if not, that is OK too. We are all mothers in the class, so we have all been there and we will support each other.
